A Bit More About Us

Our History

Haldimand Pregnancy Care & Family Centre began in Dunnville with a heart and vision to help the young people in the community where there was a high teenage pregnancy rate. The Steering Committee formed in October 2000. When the charity was incorporated in December 2003, a Board of Directors took on the task of fundraising and finding an Executive Director, who would build a team, find premises to open a Centre and begin to meet the needs of those in the community that needed support. HPCC-Dunnville-centreCarol Butler became the Founding Executive Director in June 2004 and the first Centre opened in Dunnville in September 2004 at Suite 4, 220 Broad Street East. The Centre quickly outgrew the space, was running programs from 3 locations. In the summer of 2005 we moved to 227 Queen Street, Dunnville. This meant that the programs could be run at one location. The long-term vision was to own a building that would give a permanent location for HPCFC and enough space to accommodate the needs of the clients that were being served. After launching a capital fundraising campaign, “Legacy of Hope” and through the generosity of the community, we were able to purchase 131-133 Queen Street with no financial loan needed. Renovations to make the building suitable for our needs took place and we moved into our new Centre in June 2007.

Haldimand Pregnancy Care & Family Centre has met with clients across the county and a need was identified in the Caledonia community to open a Satellite Centre there. An opportunity arose to rent office space at 11 Argyle Street North, in the Grand Erie Business Centre and we opened the office in November 2007.

In April 2013 our Centre relocated at 70 Argyle Street North, Caledonia which gave us more space for programs and easier accessibility for our clients, as we are at street level!

In 2009 HPCFC initiated the founding of Norfolk Pregnancy Centre in Simcoe in response to the needs in Norfolk County. In March 2012 NPC received its own Charitable Status and has become an independent Pregnancy Centre.

Haldimand Pregnancy Care & Family Centre also runs programs in Hagersville and we are able to meet with clients in Cayuga if they are unable to get to the Dunnville or Caledonia Centres.

Mission Statement

Our Mission is “Building Families Through The Love Of Christ”.
Family can mean a single mom raising her children, a single dad or a couple raising their child together. Family also means the extended support of grandparents, aunts and uncles and friends. The old saying “It takes a village to raise a child” is so relevant in today’s world where many families are fragmented and find it hard to stay together geographically and emotionally due to many different circumstances.

The support of Haldimand Pregnancy Care & Family Centre is like an extended family, whether through one on one peer support or through our groups and programs.
